Folks, we don't often brag about our coffees being "Direct Trade", mostly because we think that term has essentially become meaningless. Even when we know the farmers personally and have a decade-long relationship (like our Inga Aponte or El Obraje), the coffee is still transported by exporters and importers. We don't think we should hide that fact... These middle men play an important role in the coffee supply chain, and are often wonderful partners for social change. This coffee is actually different! We are working with the Oro Molido farm group on a project to roast their coffee and return the profits to the farmers, and this is a coffee we loved so much we added it to our own offerings. They air-freighted it to us, which means there truly were no middle men, and it's actually a direct trade coffee. It also tastes unbelievable. If you think you've had a coffee with sparkling acidity before, think again. This coffee legitimately tastes like Champagne, Raspberries, and sweet Saffron. You'll be blown away, and you should get it while you can... We barely have any to sell.

We met with Alejandro from La Sierra/Oro Molido late last year, and we're working towards a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership with this standard-setting farm group in Colombia. They are Rainforest Alliance Certified and farm according to its three pillars of sustainability: social, economic, and environmental. They have loads of social initiatives underway in their farms and growing regions, and you'll be hearing more about them in the future.

La Sierra farm is a beautiful property on the slopes of the extinct volcano Cerro Bravo. It has a large, traditional home that make it the perfect place to host visiting members of the coffee community.  Some consider La Sierra our jewel in the crown. On 67.4 hectares they grow Colombia, Castillo, Tabi, Caturra, Pink Bourbon, and Pajarito. We think the combination of the volcanic soil and the meticulous natural process are what make this coffee have that incredible sparkling acidity. Just try it. You'll regret it if you don't!
