This is our final Kenya of the year, and we've saved the best for last. Hanner Wanjiku Mukunga is one of the rare women producers in Kenya, and we are thrilled to have her coffee in a very limited quantity. She is a force for good in her community and even runs a coffee nursery to distribute healthy seedlings to all her neighbours. This particular lot is her highest-value AA quality and has bright notes of green apple, Ribena, and lemonade.

We sourced this coffee through our friends at Sucafina.

Hanner owns and operates Mukunga estate in Kiambu county, a region close to Nairobi. Its high altitude of more than 1850 meters creates the ideal conditions for cultivating coffee, and Hanner uses this to her advantage by focusing on quality-oriented processing. The estate is surrounded by the scenic Aberdare forest and boasts fertile volcanic soil and high annual rainfall.

For this lot, cherries were handpicked, sorted, and processed on the estate. After pulping, the cherries were fermented, washed, and then laid to dry on raised beds.
