For all you Kenyan coffee fans out there, we've got two sparkly new options for you to try! This one, from Ngemwa Estate in Kiambu, has notes of Lemonade, Plum and Medlar. Last year we only bought one Kenyan coffee as we struggled to find more that we loved, this year we have bought five, which just shows what a good year it has been for Kenyan coffee! This one is perhaps one of the standouts in a strong field. Big juicy and bright, with loads of sweetness and juicy texture along with that characteristic acidity we love in Kenyan coffee. We bought this coffee from Mercanta.
Located at 1700 MASL, Ngemwa Estate covers 28 hectares and grows SL 28, Ruiri 11, and SL 34 coffee varietals, which are known for their durability and quality. The coffee is hand-picked, fermented, and dried in the sun on raised beds until it reaches the ideal humidity.
Ngemwa Estate employs 40 people, 15 of whom live on the farm. Working with Coffee Management Services and Dormans Exporting Group, the farm focuses on quality and sustainability. We sourced this coffee through our friends at Mercanta.
